“Decide what you want to do. Then decide to do it. Then do it.”
- William Zinsser, On Writing Well
I fell in love with journalism while covering a women’s rugby game in 2009. Since then, I’ve covered state politics and major issues, like transportation and marijuana legalization. I’ve written profiles and investigations. I’ve hosted events and written, produced, appeared in and edited videos. And in 2021, I was proud to unionize our newsroom alongside my colleagues.
To me, learning is a survival tool. I’ve picked up skills like video editing and drone photography simply so I could keep up with an industry that feels like it changes every other month.
Before the pandemic, I loved seeing no-name punk rock bands in bars and basements, traveling as much as possible and rooting for terrible sports teams (seriously, I used to have Rutgers football season tickets).
I just spent the last two years studying and working my tail off to graduate with honors from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
I’ll get back to the punk bands and the terrible sports teams one day.
